Overland Park, KS - The Overland Park Soccer Complex is changing its name effective Aug. 1.

The new name will be Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex.

"Scheels is the top sponsor of our nationally recognized and ranked soccer complex. Its support of the city's 12-field facility will further enhance the community support Overland Park enjoys," said Mayor Carl Gerlach. "Scheels is a growing, prospering sports retailer. We appreciate its support of the soccer complex, as well as all its efforts to support local charities. Scheels is an outstanding community partner, and we are fortunate to have them in Overland Park."

"Scheels is excited to partner with such an incredible community and soccer facility," said Kevin Lambley, Overland Park store leader.

The exclusive naming rights secured by Scheels provides additional revenue that will be used to help cover costs of future planned field replacements.

In the coming months, permanent signage will be installed to reflect the Scheels name.

The 220,000 square foot Overland Park Scheels opened June 27 and employs nearly 400 associates. Scheels is a collection of entertainment venues, specialty shops and boutiques staffed with experts who focus on their passion.

The Overland Park Scheels store features a 16,000 gallon aquarium, a 65-foot, 16 car Ferris wheel and more.
